The subject, a descendant of Philip Livingston, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, was the second daughter of Colonel Kiliaen Van Rensselaer (1845-1905) and Olivia Phelps (Atterbury) Van Rensselaer (d. 1923). She married Benjamin Walworth Arnold, a banker of Albany and Northeast Harbor, Maine, in 1904.
