Description:
Colorless pressed lead glass plate with scroll design on rim and wreath of acorns and leaves surrounding a medallion with star above it at center; medallion contains generic male profile with inscription "WASHINGTON GEORGE."

This plate was probably made to commemorate the one hundredth anniversary of Washington's birth in 1832. A large number of them were produced. (See Ruth Webb Lee, "Sandwich Glass," p. 290.)
