Iron Schenkel artillery shell; conical shell with hole at top for screw-on cap, and tapered, ribbed bottom section.
Gallery Label:
According to accession records, this shell was found in a cornfield near the Civil War battlefield at Antietam Creek, Maryland, and was presented to the Loyal Legion by Union General John Watts DePeyster.
