Description:
Two circular red wax seal impressions with paper backing in circular wooden box; larger impression (a) with shield surmounted by a bird with outstretched wings and inscription in relief; smaller impression (b) with same emblem, but without inscription.
Gallery Label:
This seal was that of the New York Court of Common Pleas, a state court in New York City that was established in 1686 and lasted until 1895.
