Description:
Gilded silver serving spoon with down-turned handle decorated with foliate scroll motif and shield-shaped reserve at end, engraved with cipher "MAB" in gothic-style charactes; handle terminates at scrolled shoulders and has shovel-shaped bowl with matte finish and foliate and geometric engraving; maker's hallmarks stamped along underside of handle.

This serving spoon was given to the donor's mother, Marie Antoinette Baker Davis, on the occasion of her marriage to Fellows Davis, October 17, 1871.
