Description:
Pair of black (?) major's shoulder straps; metal thread embroidered leaves at each end against velvet ground and border around edges; lined with dark brown paper.
Gallery Label:
These shoulder straps are from a uniform worn by Dr. Gabriel Grant (1826-1909), while serving as a surgeon of the 2nd New Jersey Volunteers and later appointed Surgeon-in-Chief of the Division. He was a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor.
