Description:
Pair of Major's arched shoulder straps; a maple leaf at each end against light blue wool felt ground, gold metal border around the edges; reverse lined with black wool, a silk fabric tape string at each corner.
Gallery Label:
These shoulder straps are from a uniform worn by Dr. Gabriel Grant (1826-1909), surgeon of the 2nd New Jersey Volunteers and later appointed Surgeon-in-Chief of the Division. Grant was a recipient of the Congressional medal of honor.
