Description:
Gold and carnelian signet ring belonging to Ephraim George Squier; coat of arms engraved in carnelian in reverse; shoulders of ring shank chased with floral design; initials engraved on inside of ring; brown leather box lined with dark blue satin and velvet; box has rotating hook clasp.
Gallery Label:
This signet ring belonged to Ephraim George Squier, the uncle of the donor. Squier was a journalist, archeologist, and diplomat, considered in his time to be an authority on Central America. He authored and co-authored books on ancient monuments.
