Description:
Maple slat-back rocking chair painted black over yellow;three slats arched on top and bottom held between turned swelled stiles with flattened ball finials; short sloping arms with scrolled handholds supported on vase-shaped arm supports that pierce the seat rails and sit into the side stretchers; rockers fasten to mortises in the bottom of the stiles and the front legs; baluster-turned front stretcher with plain stretcher below, two side stretchers, and one plain rear stretcher; rush seat.

The slats with a curving lower edge and short sloping arms with scrolled handholds relate this chair to examples made by members of the Dominy family of East Hampton, Long Island.
