Rectangular sheet metal snuffbox with canted corners and hinged lid; body marbled with gray and yellow enamel; lid painted with portrait of Commodore Perry.

The portrait on this snuffbox likely depicts Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry (1785-1819), the U.S. Navy commander famous for his defeat of the British fleet on Lake Erie in 1813.
