Description:
Brass and iron pair of spurs; U-shaped brass spurs with rectangular iron spike screwed through hole at top, and curved foot with serrated, shell-decorated iron wheel fastened with rod to bottom.
Gallery Label:
According to accession records, these spurs were used during the Civil War by Casper Trepp, who enlisted in the 1st United States Sharpshooters in New York City in 1861, and was promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel by the time of his death at Mine Run, Virginia, in 1863.
