Description:
Vertical rectangular silver stock buckle with rounded corners, vertical rectangular chape and tongue at the center with four studs along the outer edge; obverse is decorated with scrolled acanthus leaves. Used by Philip Livingston.
Gallery Label:
This stock buckle belonged to Philip Livingston (1716-1778), one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Stock buckles were worn at the neck near the collar.
