Description:
Long pennant of the U.S. Navy with seven stars in the long canton and a red and white stripe along the rest of its length; white cotton hoist with a grommet in its center.
Gallery Label:
According to the donors, this pennant probably belonged to William Sinclair, first Paymaster General of the U.S. Navy. Pennants of this type were flown from the center mast of the ships commanded by officers of the rank of commodore or above and in the bow of the boat by all ships commanded by officers lower than the rank of commodore.
