Description:
Ethnography. Studies of Native Americans: a cleansing ritual performed in both winter and summer; a man is seated inside a wigwag in a willow basket over heated stones, while another man pours water upon the stones to create steam. A woman in the background tends a fire that heats more stones. After attaining a high state of perspiration, the tent is opened and the man plunges into the cold river
