Description: 
Wrought and seamed silver sugar bowl and creamer; oval, boat-shaped bodies on flared footrings with wheel turned decoration; convex, foliate engraved bands inset between the main bodies and the concave upper bodies with plain rims and die-rolled decorative band below; cast scroll handles with pendent hinged rings on the sugar bowl; cast strap handle on the creamer; oval reserves surrounded by engraved garlands on both sides of the bodies; forward reserves engraved, "I C" in script; maker's marks on the bases.

This sugar bowl and creamer was presented to Commodore Isaac Chauncey (1772-1840), who was the commander of naval forces on Lakes Erie and Ontario during the War of 1812 and later was appointed Commandant of the New York Navy Yard (1825-1832).
