Description:
Octagonal sundial made of slate, with small, circular compass with brass casing mounted in center; compass dial crossed by hinged brass lever mounted at edge of slate; incised Roman numerals and inscriptions.

According to the donor, the slate piece in which the compass is mounted in meant to be a model of the sundial on the Jay Gould estate at Roxbury, New York.
