Description:
Presentation sword with curved, single-edged steel blade with two fullers of equal width that begin about 4 inches below hilt, where etched decoration ends; silver mounted grip and large cloven ferrule decorated with chased and filigreed designs; leather scabbard with five silver mounts, including upper and middle bands with chasing and oval bosses and lower band with engraved inscription; leather sling threaded through carrying ring on middle band and through loop on reverse of throat.
Gallery Label:
James Guthrie Harbord (1866-1947) served as Chief of Staff, A.E.F., U.S. Army, from 1917 to 1918. This sword was presented to him in 1919 by the Republic of Armenia.
