Description:
Leather and brass sword belt; black leather with two S-link brass chains for sword scabbard fastened to hooks that suspend from belt, and octagonal brass slot at left end that fastens to corner-cut, rectangular brass buckle on right; slot has wreathed design and star on edges, and buckle has eagle in center flanked on both sides by cannons and flags, with rayed background above and stamped inscription inside scroll at top.

According to accession records, this sword belt was worn by the donor's father, Fordham Morris, a lieutenant in the artillery brigade of the 5th Army Corps during the Civil War.
