Description: 
Leather, brass, gilt, and silver sword shoulder belt; black leather belt has double sling with for scabbard fastened with brass hook and clip to circular frog sewn on interior left side, and curved rectangular brass plate at right end that fastens to hook on left; gilt lacing with three blue stripes on belt exterior and gray stripe on sling exteriors; plate has beaded background with plated silver foliate lettering in center flanked by silver wreath at bottom; stamped mark on sling hook.

According to an attached tag, this sword belt was worn by Thomas H. Barber, a general in the U.S. Army from 1867-1885, and in the National Guard, New York from 1886-1899.
