Description: 
Leather, brass, gilt, and silver sword shoulder belt; black leather belt with brass clip near center suspending scabbard sling with end hook that fastens to sling suspended from left side, and rectangular brass plate at right end that fastens to hook on left; gilt lacing on exterior of slings and belt; plate has stamped eagle in center with shield on breast, branch in one talon and three arrows in other talon, flanked by silver wreath at bottom and with rayed background, thirteen stars, and inscription inside scroll at top.

This sword belt is the U.S. Army standard model that was worn by general officers between 1850 and 1872. According to accession records, the belt was part of a uniform worn by Major General Abner Doubleday.
