Description:
Leather and brass sword shoulder belt; brown leather with double scabbard sling suspending from hook that fastens to buckle on left side of belt, and rectangular brass plate at right end that fastens to clasp on left; plate has stamped eagle in center with shield on breast, grasping branch in one talon, three arrows in other talon, and flanked on both sides by wreath at bottom and with rayed background and inscription inside scroll at top; stamped mark on belt near tip.

According to accession records, this sword belt was part of a uniform worn by the donor while a member of the 1st U.S. Volunteer Cavalry, or Rough Riders, during the Spanish-American War.
