Description:
Wooden sword cane with knob handle, tapered shaft with branch nodes, steel blade and brass ferrule; engraved silver medallion on top of handle.
Gallery Label:
Accession records state that this cane belonged to Judge Francis Adrian Van der Kemp (1752-1829) who emigrated to New York in 1788 from the Netherlands. The words engraved on the silver medallion are the motto of the House of Orange.
