Description: 
Sword with slightly curved, single-edged steel blade with two fullers, one broad and one narrow, and etched designs on obverse and reverse; brass half-basket hilt with openwork flower and scroll design on obverse side incorporating initials "US," and quillon with flat-sided globular finial; grip covered in gray fish skin and wrapped with twisted wire; helmet-shaped pommel decorated on the front with an incised shield above a leaf border centering a flower; blackened steel scabbard with brass mounts consisting of an upper band with carrying ring, middle band with carrying ring, and tip with asymmetrical drag with double-serpentine edges.
