Description:
Sword with slightly curved, single-edged steel blade with broad, three-quarter length fuller adjacent to shorter, narrower fuller and etching (now faint) on obverse and reverse; half-basket type brass hilt with openwork flower and scroll design on obverse side and quillon with scroll finial; grip covered in fish skin and wrapped with wire; Phrygian helmet-shaped brass pommel with leaf border centering a flower; leather scabbard and with brass mounts, including two carrying rings and drag.

According to the accession records, this sword belonged to the donor's father, U.S. Army Major Thomas D. Mosscrop (Lieutenant Mosscrop when he received the sword).
