Description: 
Sword with slightly curved, single-edged steel blade with one narrow fuller; rounded elliptical steel counter-guard tapers gradually into knuckle-bow which is pierced with hole for sword knot; grip covered with fish skin and wrapped with wire; bird's head pommel with backstrap extending to ferrule at base of grip; steel scabbard with one carrying ring.

According to the accession records, this Spanish sword was first captured by insurrectionists in the Philippines and later claimed by the donor when the U.S. occupied the islands during and after the Spanish-American War.
