Description:
Bolo with straight, single-edged steel blade that tapers from point to hilt; tip of blade below point intricately cut with multiple prongs; wooden hilt with short, slender grip with three bands of wicker adjoining long, ornate pommel with a forked end and disk and scroll motifs carved on either side; carved wooden guard made separately.

According to the accession records, this example was acquired by the donor's husband, Colonel James Guthrie Harbord (1866-1947), while serving as Assistant Chief of Philippines Constabulary, U. S. Army, from 1903 to 1914.
