This base was used by John Misha, a 15 year veteran of the FDNY who volunteered during recovery efforts at Ground Zero. According to Misha, he found a length of chain in the rubble, and welded it to form a cross. He placed it on this base left by a little girl and a man who possibly had a relative who died on 9/11. Workers at Ground Zero and later Saint Paul's Chapel, left votive objects such as rosaries and crosses at the shrine.
