Description:
Pair of drop-hammered and die-stamped silver tablespoons with downturned fiddle handles with shell decoration at tip and the engraved initials, "LD" in script; flared shoulders and pointed oval bowls with rounded drops and shell decoration; makers' marks stamped on the undersides of the handles.

The initials, "LD," engraved on these tablespoons stand for Lucy Durand, the donor's mother and the daughter of the artist Asher B. Durand.
