Description:
Porcelain "mandarin palette" teacup and saucer; each hand painted with multi-colored Chinese figures and landscape and incorporating cartouches containing flowers and landscapes; saucer has molded ribs with scalloped edges; interior rim of cup has three black bands surrounding pink wave.

According to the donor, this cup and saucer belonged to the Kip family and was once used by George Washington.
