Silver teapot; inverted pear-shaped body with eleven wide concave flutes seated on a circular stepped foot with an applied, die-rolled trefoil band; convex shoulder with an applied, die-rolled trefoil band raised to a tapered and flared neck; die-rolled trefoil band applied around the rim; hinged, stepped and domed lid with a cast floral finial screwed throught the center; cast, in two halves, scroll handle with ivory insulators; curved spout with three wide midbands below the notched lip; engraved on the front center of the body, "M. A. Benedict;" maker's mark stamped on the base.
