Bronze struck medal with obverse showing scene with Governor trading with group of Native Americans; part of hull of Dutch ship at right; date above: "1626"; inscription in exergue: "MANHATTAN"; all surrounded by string of wampum border. Reverse depicts two winged allegorical figures, male and female, facing right, holding sun globe and floral garland; distant view of Manhattan skyline in background; legend above: "NEW YORK CITY/1926"; inscription at lower left: "ANS/NYHS."
