Description:
Umbrella with cast metal ball ornament on top, blue cotton crown, black painted wooden shaft with sliding brass collar, and plastic crook handle molded to resemble a horse's head.
Gallery Label:
According to the accession records, the donor purchased this umbrella at an auction sale in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, years before donating it to the New-York Historical Society in 1933. The accession records indicate that it dates from the early nineteenth century.
