Description:
Bronze struck medal with obverse depicting female allegorical figure of Liberty placing laurel wreaths on heads of Industry, at left, and Art, at right, date "1876" in exergue, at center; surrounding legend: "IN COMMEMORATION OF THE HUNDREDTH ANNIVERSARY OF AMERCIAN INDEPENDENCE./ACT OF CONGRESS JUNE 1874." Reverse depicts female allegorical figure of Liberty holding sword in her right hand, above are thirteen stars in glory; date in exergue, at center: "1876"; surrounding legend: "THESE UNITED COLONIES ARE, AND OF RIGHT OUGHT TO BE, FREE AND INDEPENDENT STATES."
