Description:
Landscape: This appears to be a view north from the Hudson Highlands toward Newburgh Bay and New Windsor. Butter Hill, now Storm King Mountain, is at the left, and Breakneck Mountain is at right. A distorted version of Polopels Island is in the center.
Gallery Label:
This is a somewhat loose early nineteenth-century copy of an engraving by S. Springsguth which was published in 1798. Springsuth's engraving was from an original drawing by Isaac Weld made during a trip up the Hudson River in 1796.
