Description:
Wrought iron wafer iron; hinged circular plates ( or 'baker') and taper handles which terminate in spheres; interior of one plate is a grid pattern and interior of the opposite plate is a symmetrical arrangement of tree, pineapple, bird, and other motifs.

According to the donor, this wafer iron belonged to her mother, Catherine Gaatje of Brooklyn, N.Y. and was used for New Year's cakes.
