The background flora has been identified as cane (Arundinaria gigantea or Arundinaria); Originally engraved by William H. Lizars in Edinburgh, Scotland and later retouched by Havell; Rescued from a fire that nearly destroyed all of the plates in 1845; Wild turkey lost out to the Bald eagle as America's national symbol
