This small black leather case contains a pair of black folding 'pince-nez' glasses. The case has gold writing on it that reads "Ailman/ 6 Bromfield St./ Boston". The glasses frames are made of hard rubber and the lenses are shaded gray.

Description:
This ceramic head was designed for the phrenology, or skull study fad that swept the nation before 1900. It has black lines that section and divide the skull and face with indications as to the actions, emotions and abilities purported to be centered in that area. It is marked "Phrenology/ By L.N. Fowler" and on the back is an explanation of the study of "Crania and living heads..."
