These shoes were found by New-York Historical Society staff members in the walls of the Curtis-Robinson House at Southington, Connecticut, erected ca. 1766. According to the accession record, the shoes were buried in dirt and were believed to have been dragged into the walls by rats.

Pair of pink baby shoes (slipper style), lined with cotton twill and with leather soles; there are two straps at the back at the ankle, which wrap around the ankle and button in front with white glass buttons; at the toes are bow-shaped pieces of leather drawn through oval metal buckles which are scalloped around the outer edges.
