Pair of silver filigree earrings with wire hooks; front of hook has rosette with half-sphere turquoise at the center, flanks by sawtooth discs, a larger rosette hangs from the center, also with half-sphere turquoise at the center, 5 decorations hang across the bottom, alternating 3 circular pieces with Persian writing, smaller sawtooth discs between.

Description:
Silver filigree brooch and earrings set (demi-parure); brooch (a) is in the form of a 6-petal flower with a row of coiled silver fringe across the bottom, pin and hook attachment on reverse; wire hook earrings (b, c) suspend arched hanger with two filigree tassels and one coiled silver bead between them.

Description:
Chased gold chatelaine with implements and case; the hook suspends the étui at the center flanked on both sides with smaller acorn shaped containers (possibly thimble holders); overall rinceau design with women in togas eating grapes and putti interspersed; contains two-leaf ivory note tablet with metal brad at the bottom for pivoting, pocket knife, and the top of a needle case holder (?); leather case is lined with pink silk and is clover shaped at the top.

This chatelaine was worn by Elsje Tymens (Mrs. Jacob Leisler, d. ca. 1704). Her stepmother, Mrs. Govert Loockermans, brought it to New Amsterdam from Holland. Elsje Tymens was a wealthy widow connected with many leading Dutch families, including the Bayards and Van Cortlandts. She married Jacob Leisler in 1663 and had one daughter, Hester (Mrs. Barent Rynders, Jr., 1673-1757/63). Jacob Leisler (1640-1691) was an anti-Catholic insurrectionist who supported William of Orange as King of England.
