Two metal printing plates each affixed to wood block with metal screws or nails; each overscored with "X" over entire plate.
a: oval frame containing portrait bust of bare-headed man against hatched background to shoulder level; handwritten in ink on wood block: "Portrait of Captain David Bushnell"
b: images of house with tree and clouds in background; handwritten in ink on wood block: "birthplace of Captain David Bushnell, Saybrook, CT".

Rectangular wooden printing block (probably for textiles) with scattered circles, dots, and other small figures carved in relief and surrounded by a dense arrangement of metal spikes; indentations carved on two edges of reverse to facilitate gripping by hand.

Gallery Label:
This object was once part of the folk art collection of Elie Nadelman (1882-1946), the avant-garde sculptor. From 1924 to 1934, Nadelman's collection was displayed in his Museum of Folk Arts, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. The Historical Society purchased Nadelman's entire collection in 1937.
