Ink sketch on paper basted to linen; central image of Lavinia seated on a rock, with lighthouse, ocean and ship in left background; large tree in right foreground with small house behind. Notations include: "the name of this peace is Lavinia seated on a rock I will send you the song as soon as I can get it" and "plain grass shaded like that peace you painted at Mary Ann Noyes." Many notations for coloring.

Mahogany slant-top desk and miniaturist's tools; desk has top opening in two parts to reveal a center section fitted for tools; working surface flanked on either side by three tiered drawers above three stacked drawers; below is a central drawer over 3 smaller drawers in line all of which are flanked by a deep drawer on one side and a compartment with a door made to look identical to the drawer front on the other side; scalloped apron; square legs and stretchers; approximately miniaturists' 165 tools.
