This coin is an early milled (machine-made) piece from Mexico issued by Philip V, grandson of Louis XIV of France, who won out in the war of succession. Mexican issues were probably the most abundant in the British colonies.
The assayers, indicated by the "MF" marked on the obverse, were Manuel de León and Francisco de la Peña y Flores.
