A silver colored medallion in its original ivory colored cardboard box. The medallion has a very raised relief of a young man in a military uniform with a flying eagle behind and the name "Colin Kelly". On the reverse "With Herioc Courage He attacked and sank an enemy battleshipand gave his life for his country & for Freedom/ Dec. 10, 1941". Pierced at the top for hanging as a pendant.

The front is printed in teal green with a spiral sea shell over a submarine and inside the card is printed "To Commemorate The Launching of The U.S.S. Nautilus/ January 21, 1954". The bronze coin is embossed with a submarine over the looping symbol for an atom encircled by the words "U.S.S. Nautilus/ World's First Nuclear Powered Vessel". On the reverse "Electric Boat Division/ Launched January 21, 1954/ Sponsored By/ Mrs. Dwight D. Eisenhower/ General Dynamics Corporation".
