A gold metal open ended tin that probably once held a cardboard box containing matches. The top is lithographed in black with a stylized floral frame around a band of award medals surrounded by the words "Bryant & May's/ Patent Safety Matches/ Protection From Fire, Protection To Health./ Are Not Poisonous./ Harmless To Those Employed In The Manufacture." On the reverse has a birds-eye-view of an idealized factory complex with a horse drawn wagon in the street labeled "Fairfield Works, Bow, London, England". The sides have oval openings for exposing the striker bands on the box.

A dark cocoa brown pocket match safe with a corrugated striker bar on the bottom. The celluloid is engraved with vine-like designs forming an elaborate frame around the words "Brownell/ Car Co./ St. Louis/ Where Will You Find A Match". The reverse is engraved with a shield.

A metal pocket match safe wrapped in dark brown leather with a spring loaded hatch at the top with a corrugated striker bar shaped like a cigar and on the bottom, a small cigar cutter. The leather is printed in gold on one side "Wallach Bros./ Hats and Furnishings/ Three Stores", and on the reverse "Wallach Bros./ 238, 240-242 Bowery./ Third Ave. Cor. 122d St./ 649 Eighth Ave."

A metal pocket match safe embossed on the ends with flourishes, wrapped in ivory colored celluloid around the middle with a spring loaded hatch at the top and a corrugated striker bar on the bottom. The celluloid is printed with a red and black circular company symbol surrounded by the words "Crocker- Wheeler Company/ Ampere, N.J.", and on the sides "Dynamos and Motors"; Manufacturers and Electrical Engineers".

A metal pocket match safe wrapped in dark brown leather with a spring loaded hatch at the top and a corrugated striker bar on the bottom. The leather is faintly inscribed with a flower and leaves on one side and on the other "S.R./ Catskill Mts./ 1913".

A silver colored metal lighting tool shaped like a little book embossed "Vulkan/ DRGM", with a knob on the top. The knob pulls out of the fluid receptacle to expose the striking wand with a crimped end for holding a bit of saturated cloth around a coil of thin copper sheeting. The wand is drawn across the corrugated metal striking surface on the side and the copper coil throws sparks into the lighter fluid saturated cloth causing it to light. Probably the earliest design for fluid based pocket lighters prior to the development of fluid lighters with modern flints and rotating striker wheels.
