Description: 
Doll with composition shoulder head, molded yellow hair, molded and painted facial features including black painted eyes and closed mouth; stuffed body with divided arm composed of stuffed cloth upper arm and wooden lower arm, with crudely carved fingers, divided leg with stuffed kid upper leg and wooden lower leg, painted to resemble black boots with gold buttons; flowered dress with shawl sewn across chest and tiered skirt with scalloped hem and elaborate fringes over petticoat of similar pattern and cotton knickers; dress ornamented with cloth-covered buttons.

This object was once part of the folk art collection of Elie Nadelman (1882-1946), the avant-garde sculptor. From 1924 to 1934, Nadelman's collection was displayed in his Museum of Folk Arts, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. The Historical Society purchased Nadelman's entire collection in 1937.
