Hear the fascinating story behind the recent discovery of the only surviving wartime image of George Washington’s Headquarters Tent, an artwork that's currently on loan to New-York Historical as part of our Museum-wide celebration,  Revolutionary Summer. Dr. R. Scott Stephenson, President & CEO of the Museum of the American Revolution (MoAR), in conversation with New-York Historical curator Mike Thornton, describes the detective work that went into identifying the panoramic watercolor and its artist Pierre Charles L’Enfant, who depicted Washington’s Tent at Verplanck’s Point, New York, in 1782. Following the talk, examine the watercolor itself and experience the life-sized replica of Washington’s Tent—also on loan from MoAR—in our outdoor courtyard. Also: purchase a copy of the catalog from MoAR's 2018 exhibition about the watercolor in our Museum Store.
