Join us on the opening weekend of Black Citizenship in the Age of Jim Crow for a look at the military service of African Americans in the Civil War. Meet Living Historians from the 6th United States Colored Troops, a Civil War reenacting troop, and learn how their contributions to a Union victory helped bring about the passage of the Fourteenth Amendment 150 years ago. Living Historians will be stationed in the Museum—stop by to investigate their 19th-century uniforms, explore a soldier’s tools and equipment, and even learn a military drill!
