About Bird in a BoxIn this award-winning novel set in Depression-era America, three children with different lives and dreams are united in friendship through the travails of boxing champion Joe Louis. Through these children’s eyes, readers will experience what Joe Louis meant to African Americans in a racially divided era. This "...artfully orchestrated novel is related with grace, restraint and a wealth of historical detail." (Kirkus, starred review). Don't miss this novel and the chance to meet one of the most celebrated authors of our time.
