EVENT DETAILS
Presented LIVE on Zoom
On the evening of December 12, 2000, following weeks of confusion surrounding the outcome of the recent presidential election, the Supreme Court handed down its decision to halt further vote counting in Florida, thus confirming the electoral victory of George W. Bush. As the 2020 election approaches—and with the uncertainty surrounding it—what constitutional protections and loopholes exist pertaining to the presidential electoral process? Supreme Court columnist Linda Greenhouse, in conversation with David M. Rubenstein, explores this and other timely topics.
Linda Greenhouse, a senior research scholar in law at Yale Law School, covered the Supreme Court for the New York Times between 1978 and 2008 and writes a biweekly op-ed column on law as a contributing columnist. David M. Rubenstein, co-founder and co-executive chairman of the Carlyle Group, is the author of How to Lead: Wisdom from the World's Greatest CEOs, Founders, and Game Changers.
