EVENT DETAILS
In collaboration with the New-York Historical Society and Oxford University Press, the Bryant Park Reading Room presents a series of free lectures to stimulate your mind on popular topics including biography, Civil War history, and more.
As France was in the throes of Nazi occupation, three members of a bourgeois Catholic family joined forces to aid the French Resistance. André Boulloche, appointed Charles de Gaulle’s military delegate in Paris in 1943, orchestrated the Resistance efforts in the nine northern regions of France until he was betrayed by one of his associates. Following his arrest, his two sisters carried on the fight without him until the end of the war. Award-winning author Charles Kaiser recounts this family's extraordinary story of resilience and reconciliation.
Charles Kaiser is the award-winning author of 1968 in America and The Gay Metropolis. His most recent book is The Cost of Courage.
